Claims knowledge: documents, evidence and communication
Practical guidance for preparing an insurance claim or third-party motor liability claim.
First structure
What should be documented immediately.
Complete documentation does not replace a review, but helps later assessment.
- Secure the accident or loss location and limit danger
- Take overview and detailed photographs
- Record names and contact details of parties and witnesses
- Describe facts rather than guessing technical causes or liability percentages
- Do not dispose of damaged property without coordination
- Collect estimates, invoices and proof of payment
- Keep all communication in chronological order
- Record deadlines and inspection dates immediately
Important: For personal injury, unclear liability, limitation issues or court steps, legal counsel should be obtained in time.
